Dear Melrose Community Church,
In my Scripture reading the other day I was reminded of the importance of God’s people banding together in times of crisis. Shortly after David had established Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the nation was threatened by an alliance between the Ammonites and the Arameans. Israel’s forces were greatly outnumbered and surrounded. It looked as if they would be obliterated. Joab stationed his choice warriors on one battle front while he positioned his brother to command other choice warriors behind. “He said, ‘If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the sons of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you. Be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God; and may the Lord do what is good in His sight.’”
1 Chron. 19:12-13
These brothers stood back to back to uphold each other and to defend the nation. We have a similar opportunity to come together and seek the Lord’s mercy for our nation. I am asking that you fast and pray for our country. Especially each Monday until the Lord delivers us from the current plague which is threatening our Republic.
